"Cleaving"
Cleaving is my solo show at Schijnheilig, where I present the newest site-specific installation as well as previously made intervention In Between The Green and portfolio of my artistic practice, working exclusevely in situ.
Cleaving is re-articulation of the given space using the taken-for-granted aspects of the specific location (ceiling) and a found carpet. I divide, separate, isolate and frame areas of the space while connecting ceiling and floor, making the emptiness in between visible and experienceable. I create an environment inviting the visitor to take an active part in production of meaning by altering one's perception to discover the other aspects of apparent reality.
This installtion as most of my work is temporary in nature, made using material at hand and ordinary everyday materials to create fragile structures. The form echoes the delicate issues addressed, emphasisng aesthetic centered on acceptance of transience.
