"Paper Love" (performance, paper costumes) 2009
A series of photographs 75x100 and 100x126 on dibond, 2009
A series of photographs is a result of the first performance together with Sarah Benn, which took place in Mechelen (Belgium) in an abandoned space of a former clothes manufacturer's premises Vedea. Two characters resembling Colombine and Pierrot of Commedia dell’arte * were interacting in between themselves and the given space while photographs were taken on location with assistance of Peter Haesendonck. A selection of 8 images is presented to create a story framework to trigger the imagination of the viewer. The history of the place, where once clothes were produced and sold, as well as remaining wallpaper from the past in the space inspired to make costumes out of paper to echo the delicate issues addressed by the work, such as of fragility and vulnerable nature of human emotions, relations and expectations as well as the ever-changing nature of material things.
*a form of improvisational theatre, that began in Italy, in the 16th century and is still performed today
Currently a series of photographs is on show at Cozy, Vilnius (Lithuania), where a live performance was performed together with Sarah Benn during the opening in November 2009.
A series of 5 photographs was first presented during the "Ongekend Young Masters@Auction " exhibition/auction in Amsterdam in September 2009.
